Terri J. Haynes, born in Baltimore City, fell in love with books early in life. She began dreaming of being an author in the second grade. Her teachers soon realized her talent for writing and encouraged her to take her gift seriously. By the time she was in middle school, she had won several awards for her poetry. She grew as a writer when a librarian asked her to consider speech writing. Terri went on to win the regional finals for the Optimist Club when she was in the eighth grade. Being what she calls a “pew baby,” Terri has been in church all her life. She wrote many poems and sermons for youth department events. She tried her hand at fiction when she went to high school and dreamed of being the next Stephen King. 

After she graduated from high school, she married her best friend and recent Army recruit, Abrian Haynes. Terri had incredible opportunities as an army wife. Shortly after her wedding, she moved from Baltimore City to Virginia, where her husband served at Fort Belvoir. Terri also accompanied her husband oversees to S.H.A.P.E, Belgium. During that time, Terri realized the uniqueness of being a military spouse and the power of a strong military community.

Terri has extensive knowledge of the inner workings of the church. She has served as an assistant treasurer, Bible study teacher, newsletter editor, childrens’ event coordinator, undershepherd and praise and worship singer. She has been a church secretary twice; once at a church of 100 and once at a 3000 member church. Terri and her husband head Joshua Generation, a ministry for young adults ages 18-35. She is also an altar worker and is in leadership in the women’s ministry at her church.

Terri earned her Associate in Religious Studies from National Bible College and Seminary. She also holds a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Theological Studies. Terri serves as is an adjunct professor and is the head of the NBC&S Author’s Association. She also holds a certificate in Creative Writing from Prince George’s Community College.

Terri’s took a great leap forward when she participated in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). With God’s help, she conquered her concerned about being a novelist completed her first novel in 30 days. She is in the process of editing that novel for publication. Terri is also a member and Mid-Atlantic Capital Metro and Western Maryland Area Coordinator for America Christian Fiction Writers.

She now resides in Maryland with her husband and three children.
